Description
The Powerblanket 55-gallon Bee Blanket is a heating solution specific to the honey industry. This bee blanket honey heater maintains honey at optimal hive temperatures to prevent crystallization without burning or degrading the natural nutrients of the honey. The difference with this Powerblanket heating solution is that it maintains the same natural temperature as a beehive. With our low-level internal thermostats, you don’t have to worry about heating your honey. The Powerblanket Bee Blanket keeps your honey at hive temperatures so that it won’t lose nutrients or burn.
The patented design of Powerblanket’s 55-gallon Bee Blanket drum heater offers even heat distribution, preventing hot or cold spots. The uniform heating provided by the drum heat blankets ensures that honey reaches the proper viscosity for easy handling. With either an adjustable or preset thermostat, users have full control over their heating preferences, making the 55-gallon heated blankets ideal for large-scale honey producers. Each Bee Blanket can be equipped with an adjustable or a fixed thermostat.
Bee Blankets come in two voltages: 120 volts and 240 volts. All of our 55-gallon Bee Blankets come as an insulated full-wrap design with cinch straps to secure a tight fit. They’re also water-resistant and can be used on poly and steel buckets. All Powerblanket products are ETL certified to UL, CSA, and CE safety standards.

Four Stars Honey Man.
Four Stars Honey Man. The product works great for slowly warming my honey without overheating and pasteurizing it. Comes with a 220 plug though, didn’t see that in the description.

This is a great solution for liquefying crystallized honey.
This is a great solution for liquefying crystallized honey. I put some 2″ dense foam board insulation under the barrel and on top, took about 4 days to have the whole drum of honey liquefied at 110F.

Excellent answer for honey warming in a 55-gallon drum.
Excellent answer for honey warming in a 55-gallon drum. I’m just a small amateur beekeeper looking for a good way to warm my 55-gallon barrels of honey safely and efficiently. So when I spotted the BeeBlanket in the marketplace it looked like something that might work well for me. When ordering here from the online Powerblanket store, my order arrived quickly and after a quick inspection, it was wrapped around a full 55-gallon drum for warming. After 24 hours my honey went from 62°F to a nice 104°F in a room with an ambient temperature of roughly 68°F throughout the process. I also placed my cold metal drum on a thick piece of rigid foam insulation to minimize heat transfer from the cold floor. Admittedly I haven’t warmed a stone-cold drum of crystallized honey with it, that will be later. Warming and re-liquefying a 55-gallon barrel of honey would be a multi-day project in my estimation. Slow and steady like the bees…So far I’m impressed with the BeeBlanket and it’s working good for my purposes. 104° honey is easy to strain and bottle plus it’s safe for the honey! Using an 800-watt insulated drum blanket seems efficient to me and it worked quite well. I’m sold on this!

So far so good!
So far so good! I have a small honey operation in Washington and needed a better heating solution to warm my honey for bottling purposes. I have used the old silicone band heaters for years with little success and I’ve heard a lot about Powerblanket heaters from other beekeepers in Washington who were using them and raved about them so had to give them a try. I purchased this drum heating blanket to help with my honey extraction & bottling and have to say, so far so good.

These honey heating blankets work great for my small honey operation.
These honey heating blankets work great for my small honey operation. I will buy a few more as soon as budget allows. Be aware that thermostat wire must be placed so that it can’t fall down onto the cold floor, else the drums can overheat if the thermostat thinks the drum surface is cold. Make sure to sandwich the temperature probe on the bottom 1/3 rd of your 55-gallon drum between the drum heating blanket and the drum itself to get the most accurate temperature reading. All in all, these honey heating blankets work great!
