POWERBLANKET AND MASSMAN CONSTRUCTION |
COLD WEATHER CONCRETE INNOVATIONS |
|
Powerblanket heated concrete curing blankets offer a manageable and realistic method for curing concrete in cold and adverse weather conditions.
Water in concrete can freeze starting at 30°F (-1°C) and at around 27°F (-3°C) the hydration process can stop entirely. Since ice occupies about 9 percent more space than water, this seriously affects the integrity of the concrete. Massman Construction, while in the middle of reconstructing a major Kansas City bridge, turned to Powerblanket concrete blankets to keep a constant temperature on the concrete and improve curing strength. This innovative solution finished the job.
Dale Hemming, Project Manager for Massman Construction, said, “We didn’t have the time to wait out the winter for the temperatures to become more moderate. The Powerblanket concrete heating blankets certainly played an important role in keeping us on schedule without having to postpone the pour on an important Kansas City bridge.”

POWERBLANKET GROUND THAWING SOLUTIONS |
DON'T LET FROZEN GROUND SLOW YOU DOWN |
|
Prep ground with little to no effort or supervision on your part. High watt density ground thawing blankets tackle the difficulty of thawing ground in harsh climates.
Powerblanket’s Ground Thawing Blankets were essential in saving the Hailey Cemetery time and money during the Idaho Winter of 2017. Wayne Burke, maintenance supervisor for the cemetery, said that winter was colder and dryer than in previous years, resulting in a deeper than normal ground freeze.
“There’s usually six inches of snow on the ground,” Burke said, adding that the snow acts as a layer of insulation, preventing the ground from freezing as much. “It always worked out great. But last year it got really cold and there was no snow.”
Burke knew he needed solutions fast to meet the demand of the cemetery’s burial service schedule. He reached out to Powerblanket, and within two days of ordering, received his Ground Thawing Blanket.
